Our Activities
Activities to nurture
human spirit
Seniors in our community participate in fun, enriching activities that keep them mentally and physically active. Our facility provides them with a safe, comfortable environment where they can have new experiences, make new friends, develop new skills, and keep healthy while moving.
From Monday through Friday, our beneficiaries visit us in our location at 1133 NW 22nd Avenue, Miami, Florida, and participate in educational and recreational activities that nurture their minds and souls. They can also benefit from the healthcare support offered by the medical team at our facilities.
Health and care
Our seniors also receive medical care from expert staff. Regular check-ups, blood pressure, blood sugar, and weight monitoring are just some of the healthcare services that are available on the premises.
We strongly believe in providing comprehensive care to allow aging adults to live healthy and dignified lives. We care for their physical health as well as their minds! Keep reading and discover how.
Art
An aging body needs beauty and inspiration in the form of art to maintain its vitality. We offer arts and crafts classes for all our community members to explore their creativity, whether it’s painting, pottery, or creative writing classes.
Social activities
Socialization has been proven to reduce stress and isolation in seniors, and it also improves their memory and health. That’s why we organize birthday parties, dances, and reading groups every week to provide our beneficiaries with the chance to make new friends, chat, and spend some time in good company.
Sports
We care about the health of our community. Movement is life, so we prepare exercise routines to strengthen bones, joints, muscles, and respiratory and circulatory systems. Aerobics, yoga, and other indoor activities are some of the options that older adults can participate in at The Senior Care Foundation.
Throughout the year, our seniors can also engage in outdoor activities such as excursions and walks, which are supervised by our trained instructors and supported by our medical team.
Games
Fun activities can boost the happy hormones (Serotonin, Dopamine, Endorphin, and Oxytocin). Keeping these hormone levels at the right level allows aging people to live longer, improve their quality of life, and feel good about themselves.
We offer many games to our elders, including bingo, dominos, and chess, which seniors can enjoy Monday through Friday. Seniors can spend a special morning or afternoon playing games and making new friends.
Educational activities
Several times a year, we invite experts to talk about different areas such as nutrition, fraud prevention, counseling, computing, and more. Learning is possible no matter your age, and our community always enjoys participating in all the educational talks we organize for them.
Other types of assistance
Besides all the activities mentioned above, the foundation offers to the older adults in the community:
- Assistance to fill out legal documents, forms to get government help such as food stamps, free transportation, and more.
- Food donations to elderly care centers and living facilities.
- Helping adults in our care by channeling assistance to professionals, businesses, or other helping organizations.
